BTS ARMY South Africa is a South African fanbase dedicated to the promotion of the Grammy nominated South Korean band, BTS.
We, the administrators of this fanbase, are fans first and foremost, driven by our admiration, interest and passion for BTS. Their music is the hook, but it’s their message, their support of social justice causes, their humility and their authenticity that leaves a lasting impression.
Through our fanbase, we are determined to spread the music and message of BTS and to actively work to dispel notions that women in fandom have an age limit, that the pursuits of women are less worthy, or that BTS is merely a typical boyband, propelled into the spotlight by “screaming teenagers”.
While the work we do is voluntary, the rewards are endless. The BTS fandom is a generous, participative, energetic, passionate fandom whose love for BTS has made us the most powerful fandom in the world. Whether you are an ARMY, or merely a curious bystander, we hope you enjoy learning about what we do, why we do it, and why we are so inspired by seven Korean men.
BTS ARMY South Africa is a community of South African ARMY wanting to see a change in our communities. Through various fundraisers and initiatives, we try to make a difference in the lives of one or many. To quote BTS charity fan collective, One In An ARMY, we too ascribe to the motto, “I am ONE in an ARMY”, playing with the idea that many people giving small amounts can create a substantial impact when we work together.
“Teamwork makes the dream work.”— BTS, 2013
Who is BTS and Who is ARMY can be an incredibly difficult question to answer when you’ve never been a part of fandom. To us, BTS are philanthropists and artists who use their global platform to make a change in the world. ARMY, their agents of change, take their example and pay it forward.
